Big news came out from the Indian government for employees. New Labour rules was released to all the states in India. The 4 Labour code has passed in the favor of employees on working hours, take-home salary, Annual leave, etc. 

It was released to implement from July month this year only, but there may be some delay now. These new guidelines have already been drafted for all the states in India.

Employee Good News For Change in Salary, Working Hours and Annual Leave 

Employees working in other states and away from their hometown, have a great relief now for them as they will be able to meet their family on the 3 offs in a week, and have to work only 4 days a week. Any employees who were not able to spend time with family, they are now able to enjoy their personal life.

If the new Labour code is implemented, then an employee will work 4 days a week, but they have to work 12 hours a day. There will be 3 offs in a week. Companies registered under Factories Act, may not be able to implement the daily working hours as per new rules. 

The government has also taken strong decisions on take-home salary, Now all the company has been bound to offer 50 percent basic salary of the total gross salary, Which means if your monthly gross salary is 30K per month then your basic salary will be 15K excluding other benefits like HRA, Medical allowance, etc. There are some changes in annual leave also for the employees.

Q2. What is the change in working hours as per new Labour rules?

An employee will work 4 days a week now and will get 3 offs in a week, but the employee has to work 12 hours per day, which is 9 hours working earlier. Companies under the Factory Act might not able to allow 12 hours of work each day and 48 hours in a week.

If you join a new company, you are not eligible for paid leave before 8 months from the date of joining. Currently, employers approve the Leave post 6 months from the joining, but now your leave will not be approved if it is applied before 240 days from your joining date in the company.
